Covenant Health System was created June 10, 1998, from the merger of Lubbock Methodist Hospital System and St. Mary of the Plains Hospital. 

Today, Covenant is one of the largest health care organizations in Texas and is the largest in the western half of the state.  Covenant Health System serves a 62-county area across West Texas and Eastern New Mexico with a population exceeding 1.2 million.

Covenant Heart Institute is the Region's first freestanding heart center, a six story facility with a 30-year history of providing superlative cardiac services to West Texas and Eastern New Mexico.
